I want a puppy for xmas

Ideally nothing bigger than a Beagle.

I like beagles, jack russles etc (No staffs or bull terriors)

This is a dog that will be small but will protect my girlfriend when she is in the house alone. I'd like a puppy. Am willing to pay for a decent dog.
